authors + specific books you should be reading if you want some Texas thrillers in your life 👇🏻
Ashley Winstead (
@ashleywinsteadbooks ): Ashley is a thriller QUEEN and you simply must be reading her work. She lives here in Houston + all her thrillers are A++, but I’m recommend her cult-y thriller THE LAST HOUSEWIFE here bc it begins with a woman in Texas! This book is DARK, feminist, cult-y, and oh so excellent.
Amy Tintera (
@amytintera ): I am a new Amy fan thanks to her first adult thriller LISTEN FOR THE LIE, which Texas place in a (fictional) small town outside Austin! If you love true crime podcasts + small town murder mysteries, this is the book for you.
Nishita Parekh (
@nishita_author ): another amazing Houstonian crime writer!!! Nishita’s debut THE NIGHT OF THE STORM is a locked room mystery that takes place in a Houston suburb during hurricane Harvey.
May Cobb (
@may_cobb ): I freaking LOVE May Cobb’s juicy suspense novels!!! If you want an excellent psychological suspense and a story about a woman revisiting her past, check out A LIKEABLE WOMAN. If you want some spice with your suspense, try THE HUNTING WIVES. Both so freaking good.
Isabel Cañas (
@isabelcanas_ ): my queen Isabel Cañas is one of those writers whose work I fell in love with IMMEDIATELY and will read forever. Her book VAMPIRES OF EL NORTE is set on the Texas-Mexico border, and it’s a lush, romantic, SPOOKY, thrilling story of war, forbidden love, and yes, vampires.
Chandler Baker (
@chandlerbakerbooks ): Austin-based author Chandler Baker writes suspense that blend razor sharp social commentary with dark humor. I loved her book CUTTING TEETH, a witty spin on suburban suspense about three women whose children begin to crave blood.
Kristen Bird (
@kristenbirdwrites ):
& last but certainly not least, a Texas author (another Houstonian!!) on my TBR!! I’m so excited to read Kristen Bird’s WATCH IT BURN. This small-town suspense story has cult vibes, which we know I love, and all begins with the discovery of a body in a small Texas town.
Have you read any of these authors?! 🤠🖤
