On October 2, 2023, a woman was hit by a human-driven car in San Francisco and then run over by a Cruise robotaxi. The woman was pinned under the robotaxi and had to be rescued.
Video footage captured by Cruise shows the robotaxi braking sharply before running over the woman. Cruise has stated that the robotaxi "braked aggressively" to minimize impact.
The woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The San Francisco Police Department is investigating the incident.
