This year marks three decades since I became the steward of The French Laundry in Yountville. Yet, today, on February 9th, we celebrate another pivotal milestone in the restaurant’s history for which I remain eternally grateful. Forty-six years ago, Don and Sally Schmitt opened the doors to their family restaurant, The French Laundry. It’s a privilege to build upon their legacy, and to be the custodian of this uniquely special place we call home. When we first met the Reichardt family at Liberty Ducks farm, we knew we had found not only an exceptional product, but incredible individuals who showed true care and devotion.
