Recently I changed the rhythm of my work life in a significant way. Whenever I need to ground my energy during a life transition, I turn to movement as a way to calm all the mental chatter.
Last week I lifted really heavy weight and enjoy it as a form of moving meditation. Sometimes when the brain is particularly noisy, enjoying seated meditation can be a reach.
My Yoga inspired hack for reaching the meditative state is to enjoy a physical challenge that requires:

✨FEEL Vs. FUEL...
I think we are getting sooooo in touch with our feelings these days, that people will tell you to feel everything all the time. And that’s the “proper” way to heal.
Idk about you, but my feelings are f*cked sometimes. When I’m really hurting, my “feelings” would tell me not to get out of bed, to eat crap, and to find a way to numb myself. That self sabotage stuff simply doesn’t work for me.
I think you need to know for yourself, when to feel, and when to turn it into FUEL.
You wake up in tears, you FEEL it. Then you wipe the tears away, you make yourself get dressed (even when you don’t feel like it), you go to work...Someone asks you how you are, you fight back tears, and you tell yourself “fuel” and you bust out some hours of work...You get into your car alone after being around people, and now you “feel”. Let that sh*t out... then you wipe your tears, put on some music, get to the gym, a feeling arises, and you say “FUEL”, you bust out the best workout, head home, and “feel”. You get up, and you do what needs to be done + continue the Eb and flow of feel + fuel.
...cause life goes on... You gotta continue moving throughout life, giving yourself grace for what you’re handling, allowing friends to be there for you, working with a mentor or someone to help guide you through it, & doing things that are good for you like getting out of bed, eating healthy, and moving your body.
Sometimes you need to feel. And other time you need to let it fuel you...loss, hardship, heartbreak, can consume you and make you worse. OR you can DECIDE that this will make you stronger. Decide to get stronger from it. 🦋 #EvolveWithEmily ⠀

Time to get the diet back on point, I’ve been eating 2-3 small meals a day consisting mainly of protein. Here is yesterday’s shoulder workout. I incorporate supersets and dropsets for the majority of all exercises in my workouts. I highly recommend doing so if you’re not already. You’ll grow much quicker with the extra intensity being forced on your muscles while they’re temporarily depleted bs quitting after your basic SETSxREPS regimen.

#TRANSFORMATIONTUESDAY - So I was just scrolling through some old pics and came across these two of Dave Bourlet's back from when I started working with him (PIC 1) to about 2 years later (PIC 2). When I saw these next to each other I was actually (extremely) amazed at what we accomplished through the changes I made to his diet and training ONLY. It does not even look like the same person...or it looks like a 12 year, and not 2 year difference! Not only did his back get FAR wider, but look at how thick and deep it became!
